About
Hello! My name is Mrs Berry and I am an experienced primary school teacher, specialising in Upper Key Stage Two (Year 5 and Year 6 pupils). I am very passionate about my work and helping young people to achieve their learning potential. One of the largest inhibitors of this within a classroom setting can often be the confidence of a pupil.
Did you know that, in England, recent studies indicate a widening gender gap in Mathematics, with boys increasingly outperforming girls? Research suggests that issues around confidence and a sense of belonging can impact girls' performance in this subject, while also indicating that girls may therefore experience higher levels of anxiety towards Mathematics.
I have witnessed this first-hand in my own classes, so I wanted to create a space for girls to come together and work on their mathematical skills, while improving their confidence and feeling a sense of belonging.
In the current time we live in, particularly with the rising importance of STEM, why shouldn't girls be queens of Mathematics and be slaying those skills?
